The Vice Grand Maître of the Commanderie de Bordeaux in Tokyo, Mr Hirohisa Yoshizawa :
After a state of emergency being declared in Tokyo, caused by Covid-19, it was with the strictest health safety measures ensured that we organised the “Bordeaux 2020 Vintage Tasting” in the marvellous setting of the Hibaya Palace, on Tuesday 27th April 2021.
Mrs Mutsumi Matsui, who will become a member of the Tokyo Commanderie next November, is owner of the Hibaya Palace and she graciously allowed us to use this prestigious establishment for our personal use.
Mrs Mizuyo Horiguchi, accredited wine tutor of the Bordeaux Wine School and Commandeur, presented an excellent seminar, explaining the approaches Bordeaux wine estates are now using to ensure the sustainable development of their wine region.
Following the seminar, we tasted the 28 samples of Bordeaux wines from the 2020 Vintage. We gathered on the rooftop of the Hibiya Palace, from where we could admire the garden of Hibiya and its magnificent lush greenery in the springtime sunshine.
