Opening of the Commanderie de Bordeaux in Bangkok, on 27th October 2025

The Grand Maître of the Grand Conseil du Vin de Bordeaux, Jean-Marc Dulong, and Hubert de Boüard, Vice Grand Maître, travelled to Thailand, along with a delegation of representatives from the Bordeaux Wine Brotherhoods, to preside over the opening of the Commanderie de Bordeaux in Bangkok, on Monday, October 27th, 2025, at the Dusit Thani Hotel, in the presence of guest of honour, the French Ambassador to Thailand, Mr. Jean-Claude Poimboeuf.

For the Jurade de Saint-Emilion: Matthieu Cuvelier, from Château Clos Fourtet and Jean-Bruno Cantorné, of Maison Veyret Latour, Château La Dominique.
For the Commanderie du Bontemps M&G, S&B : Véronique Dausse, from Château Phélan Segur, Axel Heinz, from Château Lascombes and Lucas Leclercq, from Beautiful Life Wines, Château Fourcas Dupré.
For the Baillis de Lalande de Pomerol : Nicolas Lassagne, from Château Maltus.
For the Ordre des Vignerons des Bordeaux-Bordeaux Supérieurs : Olivier Bonnélye, from Château L'Eperon.

A grand tasting of Bordeaux wines was held in the late afternoon at 5:30 p.m., marking the prelude to the official opening ceremony of the Commanderie de Bordeaux in Bangkok.

In the Lumphini Reception Room of the Dusit Thani Hotel, 86 guests then enjoyed a gala dinner characterized by elegance and conviviality, accompanied by fine Bordeaux wines presented by the winemakers themselves, who had come especially for the occasion, and in the presence of the renowned wine critic, James Suckling.

Also present at this exceptional evening were:

Maître Alain Cany, of the Commanderie de Bordeaux in Saigon; Maître Jean-Michel Caldaguès, of the Commanderie de Bordeaux in Hanoi and Herman Iskandar, of the Commanderie de Bordeaux in Jakarta.  At the helm of this new Commanderie de Bordeaux in Bangkok are Mr. Nicolas Bernardin and Mr. Sébastien Laurent, both long-time residents of Asia and passionate advocates for Bordeaux wines. They will respectively serve as Maître and Vice-Maître of the Commanderie.

Maître Nicolas Bernardin is Director of the Thales Group for Vietnam, Thailand, Myanmar, Aerospace and Space in Cambodia, Defense & Security, and Cybersecurity.

Vice-Maître Sébastien Laurent is Foreign Trade Advisor (Mergers & Acquisitions) for the Financière de Courcelles Global Group.


The French Ambassador to Thailand, Jean-Claude Poimboeuf, has devoted most of his diplomatic career to the Far East and Southeast Asia. He currently heads the French Embassy in Thailand.
