Maître Fred Withers – Commanderie de Bordeaux in Vancouver
We had two lovely evenings with the Grand Maître of the GCVB, Jean-Marc Dulong, in Vancouver. He is a wonderful ambassador for Bordeaux wines.
On the Sunday night (9th March), we dined at the Five Sails Restaurant. Members of our Commanderie Council and our two Maîtres Emérites joined me to host Jean-Marc. The Chef recently won the Top Chef in Canada competition.
For a change of pace, we featured British Columbia wines (Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs) during the dinner and of course, finishing with a Sauternes.
On Monday night (10th March), we held a members' event at Blue Water Cafe.
28 members were in attendance. The evening featured the wines of 2010, and of course we finished the evening with Château Bastor-Lamontagne 2019, Sauternes.
Jean-Marc spoke on three occasions during the evening. First about Bordeaux, the GCVB and the numerous Commanderies around the world; second about the 2010 vintage and finally about Château Bastor-Lamontagne.
It was a wonderful evening of fine wine, excellent cooking and great conversation.
