The Grand Conseil du Vin de Bordeaux
January 20, 2023New Year’s wishes presented to the Mayor of Bordeaux, by the Grand Conseil and the Bordeaux Wine Brotherhoods, on Friday 20th January 2023
A meeting of the Board of Directors, extended to the Grands Maîtres of the Wine Brotherhoods, was held on Friday 20th January 2023 at 10am.
Following this meeting, the Grand Maître of the Grand Conseil du Vin de Bordeaux, Hubert de Boüard, went to present new year’s wishes to the Mayor of Bordeaux, Mr Pierre Hurmic.
The Grand Maître was accompanied by two representatives of the Grand Conseil, Nathalie Escurédo, Chancelière, and Francis Boutemy, Grand Mâitre Emeritus and by thirty representatives of the Wine Brotherhoods.
In the bright sunshine, a procession of the Bordeaux Wine Brotherhoods, with the Grand Conseil at the head, walked through the streets of Bordeaux, to go to the Rohan Palace, Bordeaux City Hall.
The various Bordeaux Wine Brotherhoods represented in this procession and new year’s wishes ceremony were the following:

La Commanderie du Bontemps de Sainte Croix du Mont
Les Compagnons de Bordeaux
Les Hospitaliers de Pomerol

Les Baillis de Lalande de Pomerol
La Connétablie de Guyenne Cadillac, Premières Côtes de Bordeaux
La Connétablie de Guyenne en Blaye, Côtes de Bordeaux
La Connétablie de Guyenne des Côtes de Bourg
L’Ordre des Chevaliers des vins de Castillon
L’Ordre des Vignerons de Bordeaux, Bordeaux-Supérieur
The delegation of the Grand Conseil and representatives of the Bordeaux Wine Brotherhoods were received by the Mayor of Bordeaux, Mr Pierre Hurmic and by Mrs Brigitte Bloch, President of Bordeaux Metropole Tourist Information Office and representative for Bordeaux wines at Bordeaux City Hall.
Mr Pierre Hurmic gave a speech during which he underlined his support for the winegrowers of Bordeaux and his admiration for their work. He sincerely thanked the Grand Conseil du Vin de Bordeaux, the members of the Bordeaux Wine Brotherhoods and the winegrowers for this new year’s wishes ceremony and for all the bottles of wines given to Bordeaux City Hall at this occasion, displaying the superb diversity of the appellations of the wine region.
The Grand Maître of the Grand Conseil, Hubert de Boüard, gave his speech after Mr Hurmic. He expressed the Grand Conseil’s pleasure to come to this traditional wishes ceremony, accompanied by the Wine Brotherhoods and on behalf of all of Bordeaux wines he thanked the Mayor, Mr Pierre Hurmic and Mrs Brigitte Bloch for their support.
At the end of this event, a cocktail buffet was held in a reception room of the Rohan Palace.
