Commanderie de Bordeaux à Paris - Induction Ceremony & Gala Evening, 18th November 2021

Vinum et Musica Laetificant Cor

3rd Induction Ceremony 2021 & Gala Evening

18th November 2021

At the Cercle de l’Union Interalliée

An exclusive evening thanks to the presence and generosity of Florence and Daniel Cathiard, and Augustin Belloy, who travelled to Paris especially to share their fine wines.

A magnificent evening organised masterfully by Brigitte and Alexander in the marvellous venue of the Cercle de l’Union Interalliée.

The large reception room was divided into three open spaces, each separated by sky-blue coloured brocade curtains.

The aperitif and presentation of Château Smith Haut Lafitte, Grand Cru Classé de Graves, AOC Pessac-Léognan, by Florence and Daniel Cathiard, as well as Château Beauregard, AOC Pomerol, by Augustin Belloy, joint-owner, took place in the first part of the room.

Also held here, the induction ceremony for our new Commandeurs:

o Jean Romuald Bonnin, presented by his sponsor Jeannine Rivals
o Maîk Bouchayer, presented by his sponsor Jeannine Rivals
o Pierre Le Franc, presented by his sponsor Pascal Gengoux
o Baptiste Raynaud, presented by his sponsor Olivier Seigneur

Then we moved to the second area of the room, where tables were set out and guests were seated, guided by our Honorary President, Mr Jacques-André Clerc, Member of the Club, and his wife.

It was then we had the pleasant surprise of discovering in the third part of the room, Suzanna Laramée, a talented member of our Paris Commanderie, who gave us a most enjoyable musical moment, playing on a grand piano, Händel, melody and variations, “L’Harmonieux forgeron”.

The wines tasted in accompaniment to the delicious menu prepared by head chef Thierry Chevalier were:

- Les Hauts de Smith white 2019, with the aperitif and first course of Carpaccio of scallops
- Château Smith Haut-Laffitte white 2016, to accompany roasted fillet of sea bass, pan-fried girolle mushrooms & basil pesto
- Château Smith Haut-Lafitte red 2010 and Château Beauregard 2003 in magnums, served with braised loin of veal
- Château Smith Haut-Lafitte red 2005 and Château Beauregard 2015 in magnums, in accompaniment to Abbaye de Citeaux cheese and quince jelly
- Château Doisy-Daëne 2010, served with Brittany shortbread

A superb gala evening, during which we were able to express to Henri all our thanks and appreciation for his skill as Grand Maître and for founding the Commanderie de Bordeaux in Paris.
