June 21, 2020“Bordeaux wines say THANK YOU” : a charitable fund-raising project in aid of health professionals
For several weeks now, many wine professionals, winegrowers, merchants and brokers have been wondering how the Bordeaux wine industry can give its support to health professionals in the Bordeaux region, working on the front line of the extreme health crisis we are facing at present.
All Bordeaux wine professionals have suggested putting together in a few weeks a vast charitable fund-raising project, to be held at the dates initially planned for the Bordeaux Wine Festival. It will be an online wine auction called “Bordeaux wines say THANK YOU”, in aid of health professionals in the Gironde : www.lesvinsdebordeauxleurdisentmerci.com
It will be carried out in three phases:
First phase: Women and men of the Bordeaux wine industry launch an appeal for donations between 15th April and 15th June. Wine estates, wine trade firms, the CIVB and also wine tourism professionals; everyone will be contacted to be asked to give donations, in this way making it possible to put together a catalogue of lots to be auctioned.
Concurrently, details about this project will be circulated via media partners of the Bordeaux Wine Festival.
Second phase: in the week of 15th to 21st June, period of the Bordeaux Wine Festival, the online auction will be launched. The auction will close on Sunday 21st June at midnight.
Third phase: at the beginning of July, 100% of the sum raised during this auction will be presented to Yann Bubien, Managing Director and Frédérique Albertoni, Patronage Manager of Bordeaux’s University Hospital, in order to finance the purchase of equipment and improve working conditions for healthcare staff working in hospitals all over the Gironde department.
