Solidarity and Gratitude for the Forest Fires in Gironde

The Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux expresses its deep concern and full support for the local communities, regional stakeholders, and all those involved in the ongoing efforts to fight the wildfires affecting Gironde and the Landes region. This ecological and human disaster is deeply impacting our region.

We would like to warmly thank the firefighters, State services, forestry professionals, military personnel, gendarmes, Civil Security forces, as well as the many volunteers, farmers, and winegrowers who, with exemplary courage, are protecting our territories and our fellow citizens. Our gratitude also goes to the wine estates that have made equipment available and have actively contributed to the fight against the flames. In the face of this crisis, the solidarity of the wine industry has once again been demonstrated, proving its unwavering commitment to this region and its inhabitants.

A promising 2026 vintage, preserved from the consequences of the wildfires

At this stage, we would like to reassure everyone:

• No vineyards in Gironde have been affected by the fires.
• No impact on grape quality has been observed to date.
• Although the fires have been severe, they are located several kilometres away from our vineyards. As a reminder, the wildfires that occurred in 2022 during the same period had no impact on the taste of the wines.
• With the arrival of rain and the gradual stabilisation of the situation, the 2026 vintage is expected to be early and to hold great promise in terms of quality.
