Opening Ceremony of the Commanderie de Bordeaux in Frankfurt, Friday 3rd December 2021


At Erno’s Bistro Restaurant (Michelin*), on Friday 3rd December 2021, the official opening ceremony was held for the new Commanderie de Bordeaux in Frankfurt, this major city of south-western Germany.

The delegation of the Grand Conseil du Vin de Bordeaux, headed by the Grand Maître, Hubert de Boüard de Laforest, was comprised of Jean-Marc Dulong – member of the management board, Nicolas Lassagne – Jurat de Saint-Emilion, Romain Rivière – Bailli de Lalande de Pomerol and his wife Ikumi.

Also present for this grand occasion and to represent the Commanderies de Bordeaux in Germany, were Dr Peter Baumgardt (Grand Maître for Germany & Commanderie de Bordeaux in Dusseldorf), Hans-Jorg Lenz (Maître of the Commanderie de Bordeaux in Stuttgart) and Markus Del Monego (Commanderie de Bordeaux in Essen).

From 7pm, guests were welcomed for an aperitif and a Tasting of a wide range of Bordeaux Wines.

The induction ceremony followed at 7.45pm. Grand Maître, Hubert de Boüard de Laforest began by the induction of Dr Dirk NOTHEIS, as Maître of the new Commanderie de Bordeaux in Frankfurt.  Watch the video of the induction HERE
Afterwards, the 19 Commandeurs of Frankfurt received their induction in turn.

A superb Gala Dinner was served from 8.15pm, accompanied by a marvellous selection of Bordeaux’s fine wines.

On Saturday 4th December, Maître Dirk Notheis organised a visit of the Riesling wine region, the “Rheingau”, the right bank of the Rhine. The programme began by a visit & tasting at Château (Monastery) Kloster Eberbach-Domaine Weingut Balthasar RESS in Eltville am Rhein and was followed by lunch at the Monastery Restaurant “Klosterschenke”. Visits continued in the afternoon with the Domaine Weingut Schloss Johannisberg in Geisenheim, with a tasting of “Riesling of Weil”. Towards 5pm, a Vertical Tasting of Geheimrat J. was held at Château Wegeler, in Geisenheim. And to conclude this splendid day spent discovering the wines of the right bank of the Rhine, the “Rheingau”, an excellent tasting was presented in Maître Dirk Notheis’ Private Cellar, in Bad Soden.
