CommanderIES, wine brotherhoods

Headed by Eric Vogt, Grand Maître of the Commanderies de Bordeaux in the US, Wine Educator of the Commanderie de Bordeaux in Boston, a small group of Commanderie Wine Educators in the United States came to Bordeaux in the month of May 2019. They were:

- Lynn Lathrop, Grand Régent, Commanderie de Bordeaux in San Diego

- Bruce Taylor, Head of Wine Educators in the US Commanderies, from the Commanderie de Bordeaux in Cleveland 

- Tim Jerome, Wine Educator , Commanderie de Bordeaux

- Kelleen Hubbs, Wine Educator, for the Commanderie de Bordeaux in Atlanta

A 4-day Training Programme, from Thursday May 16^th to Sunday May 19^th, was organised for them by the CIVB’s Wine School, L’Ecole du Vin. The Wine School tutor who accompanied them was Sabine Silvestrini. 

Day 1 – Thursday May 16^th - Bordeaux
Morning: 3 ½ hour Workshop at L’Ecole du Vin 
Afternoon: Visit of the Cité du Vin 

Day 2 – Friday May 17^th – Graves & Sweet white wines
Morning: 1-hourWorkshop at L’Ecole du Vin
12.15 pm: Visit, tasting & lunch at Château Loupiac Gaudiet, AOC sweet white wines with owner’s son Nicolas Sanfourche et Chef Lucas Cramaix.
3.45 pm: Visit & Vertical Tasting at Château Luchey-Haldee, AOC Graves, with Nadège Giamarchi & Pierre Darriet. 

Day 3 – Saturday May 18th - Bordeaux, Bordeaux Supérieur and Médoc
Morning: 2-hourWorkshop at the Ecole du Vin
Midday: Visit, tasting and lunch in the AOC Bordeaux/Bordeaux Supérieur
4.00 pm : Visit & Vertical Tasting at Château du Tertre, AOC Margaux 

Day 4 – Sunday May 19th – Côtes de Bordeaux, Saint-Emilion, Pomerol and Fronsac
Morning: 2-hourWorkshop at the Ecole du Vin
Midday: Visit, tasting and lunch at Château Lesparre, AOC Graves de Vayres, Côtes de Bordeaux
4.00 pm: Visit & tasting at Château Ferrand, AOC Saint-Emilion, Grand Cru Classé with the owner, Mr Philippe Chandon-Moët.
