the Grand conseil du vin de bordeaux

We had an evening full of good conversation and lots of laughter. It was a pleasure to welcome Jean-Marc Dulong, Grand Maître of the Grand Conseil du Vin de Bordeaux and Jean-Jaques Bonnie, from Château Malartic-Lagraviere in the Hanse Lounge Hamburg, which is the “home” of the Commanderie de Bordeaux a Hambourg.

Our guests for this evening were Peter Baumgardt – Grand Maître of the Commanderies de Bordeaux in Germany and his wife, Yvonne and also the Maître of the Commanderie de Bordeaux in Dusseldorf, Detlef Disko and his wife, Silke. 

We started the evening with an aperitif and welcomed a new Commandeur in our ranks – Stefan Gottweis. Later on, while we had dinner, we also rated the wines, so the conversation for this evening was full of discussion about these wonderful Bordeaux wines.

Chateau Belgrave 2010 seemed to be the favourite but the decision between the Malartic wines (2014 & 2007) and the Château Lascombes (1982) was almost impossible to rank (see the wines listed in the menu).

We ended our evening late in the smoker’s lounge with Cuban cigars, which was a wonderful pairing with the Château Nairac 2015, de Sauternes, Barsac.
