Autumn Induction and Wine Tasting Dinner
On 14th October 2024, we received Mrs. Blandine de Brier Manoncourt, owner of Château Figeac, accompanied by her husband and Mr. Frédéric Faye, Director.
The convivial aspect of this visit allowed us to introduce them to the Royal Theatre of Madrid and attend a performance of the Adriana Lecouvreur Opera, as well as visit the Gallery of the Royal Collections, some rooms of the Prado Museum (Bosch, Velázquez, Rubens and Goya), wander through Madrid’s historical quarters and discover Madrid's high-level restaurants, where they were able to note that Figeac is present on their wine lists.
We organized for them a professional tasting of their wines for around fifteen sommeliers from Madrid's main restaurants, as well as press and wine merchants. The wines presented: Petit Figeac 2020, Château Figeac 2015, 2011 and 2009
Dinner at the Nuevo Club. 52 Commandeurs attended this dinner. Wines tasted: Petit Figeac 2020; Château Figeac 2015, 2009 and 2004.
Mrs. Helena Cortes was inducted at this occasion.
The Commanderie de Bordeaux in Madrid now has 12 women among its 63 Commandeurs.

NEW INITIATIVE
Masterclass: “A stroll through the Bordeaux wine region”
Aim: to promote knowledge about the terroir of wines from different appellations: Saint Julien, Saint Estèphe, Saint Émilion, Pauillac and so on, with the notion of “Affordable Bordeaux”. That is to say wines with an average price of between 30 and 60 €, whether they are second wines from classified great growths, or Crus Bourgeois or others.
How we organise: lunch on the last Friday of the month. “A stroll through the Bordeaux wine region”. Bringing together a maximum of 16 Commandeurs. Traditional Spanish dishes are served. Three bottles from 4 different properties, but from the same appellation. Before lunch: a Masterclass given by our oenologist Julia del Castillo and Javier Fernandez Piera. Wines purchased from local distributors.
As an example, see the Masterclass about Pauillac, held on 25th October 2024.
