The Annual Dinner of Commanderie de Bordeaux, Hong Kong

After the 2020 annual dinner was postponed due to social distancing measures, the Hong Kong Commanderie de Bordeaux 2021 Annual Dinner was able to be held again. The theme was to bring 'What would Vincent bring…' in memory of our late Grand Maître Vincent Cheung. Running at a full capacity of 240 guests, 18 new Commandeurs, Mr Wilson Kwok (re-appointed as Vice-Maître) and Mr Alex Cheung (as new Maître) were all introduced and inducted on 14^th December at the Grand Hyatt, Hong Kong.

Our new Maître, Mr. Alex Cheung, son of the legendary Vincent, made a memorable inaugural speech and together with other Council members, introduced all the Commandeur candidates who then vowed to be loyal and faithful to Bordeaux wines.

The menu was a fusion of Modern Chinese and European dishes, immaculately prepared and was easy to pair with any Bordeaux wines to suit the BYO theme. All communes of Bordeaux were well represented, including, dry and sweet whites, as well as a large number of fine clarets which were shared within and across the 22 tables. The spectacular parade of chefs carrying in the 10-meter long cheese board, an opera performance and a live music band were some of the highlights of the evening and continued to prove the perfect pairing with so many wonderful Bordeaux wines.

We all had a great pre-Christmas celebration and for this we must thank the Bordeaux wine producers for sharing their passion in the bottles.

Bordeaux, toujours Bordeaux!
